CLEVELAND (WTVB) - The first place Tigers crunched Cleveland 10-4 yesterday to make it a three-game sweep at Progressive Field. Detroit’s fourth straight win puts them two and a half games up on the second place Kansas City in the American League Central. Max Scherzer tossed six innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts to improve to 9-3. Miguel Cabrera gave the Tigers the lead for good early with his 2-out first inning solo home run. Cabrera added a single and finished with three RBI’s. J.D. Martinez and Nick Castellanos each drove in two while Ian Kinsler was 3-5 with an RBI. The Tigers, now 40-32, finally have a day off after playing 20 days in a row. Detroit continues the road trip tomorrow opening a three-game series at Texas. The White Sox are slumping as they lost 6-5 at Minnesota where the Twins yesterday completed a 4-game sweep. And the Cubs fell 2-1 to the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
