COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Community Health Center of Branch County Board of Trustees is expected to vote Monday night on their recommendation to county commissioners for the merger or sale of the county owned hospital. Talks have been underway with Acension-Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Sparrow Health in Lansing, and CHS, a for-profit system based in Brentwood, Tennessee with 204 hospitals in 30 states, including Metro Health in Grand Rapids and the Lutheran Network in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The Health Center Board decided to consider the possibilities of a strategic partnership or sale after hearing from their consultants, Juniper Advisory of Chicago. They have been researching and advising the CHC Board on the matter for nearly 9 months. The board held its final Trustee Education meeting on the process this past week. The CHS is reportedly offering $15 million to purchase the hospital.
Any action taken by the CHC Board will have to receive final approval from the Branch County Board of Commissioners.
