BRAZIL (WTVB) - The Netherlands and Costa Rica are advancing to the quarterfinals at the World Cup in Brazil. Holland picked up a dramatic 2-1 victory over Mexico in Fortaleza on Sunday. The Dutch scored in the 88th minute to tie the match before converting on a penalty in stoppage time. The Netherlands now has a quarterfinal date with Costa Rica, which needed penalties to get past Greece in Recife. The Greeks tied the match in the 91st minute before Costa Rica prevailed 5-3 in penalty kicks. The teams clash on Saturday for a spot in the semifinals. Monday features two more quarterfinal matchups. At Noon Eastern, France clashes with Nigeria in Brasília. Later in the day, Germany will face Algeria from Porto Alegre. The United States is back on the pitch Tuesday when it faces Belgium in the Round of 16 from Salvador. A victory would put the U.S. into the quarterfinals against Argentina or Switzerland on Saturday.
