COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It appears the motel industry likes Coldwater and vice-versa. The Coldwater City Planning Commission last night scheduled a special meeting for Monday March 17th to review the site plan for a proposed Holiday Inn Express to be located on North Drive directly east of the existing Hampton Inn, off Willowbrook Road. The hotel will have 71 rooms, 80 parking stalls, employ 15 people and represent a $3 million investment. Coldwater previously had a Holiday Inn Express off U-S 12 just west of I-69, which the summer before last was converted to a Best Western.
The Planning Commission last night also acted on another one of the few remaining requirements for the $5.5 million Kerr Redevelopment project on U-S-12 in downtown Coldwater. The site plan was approved for the parking and infrastructure improvements allowing for a new driveway, 9 parking stalls, sidewalk and utility improvements. The dumpster coral in the Rumsey Plaza parking lot will be relocated to serve the Kerr redevelopment and adjacent properties. Developer Jennifer Wingard hopes to see construction begin before the end of March. The Kerr building would have a total of 14 second and third floor apartments and up to 3 commercial spaces on the first floor, including a restaurant.
