COLDWATER (WTVB) - This extended winter weather has helped us avoid flooding and next week’s weather could be just what the doctor ordered. A few warm days has already allowed some of the snow pack to melt without causing a big rush of water. National weather service Hydrologist Mark Walton says there is still a 50 to 90% chance of flooding because a sudden switch over to spring rains and rapid melting would be more runoff than streams and rivers could handle. Next week’s weather forecast predicts highs in the 40’s with below freezing temperatures at night which could be the slow release of the water spigot that will allow us to avoid flooding.
