NEW YORK, NY (WTVB) - The Sweet 16 field is set in the men's NCAA Tournament including Michigan and Michigan State each to be playing their regional semi-final games on Friday night. The matchups have number-2 seed Michigan taking on 11th seed Tennessee at Indianapolis in the Midwest Region while in the East Region, number-4 seed Michigan State will face number-one seed Virginia at Madison Square Garden in New York. The pairings were finalized following the third round games yesterday and Saturday.
Michigan advanced after its victory Saturday over Texas while Michigan State moved on after beating Harvard.
Yesterday’s highlights included Kentucky ending Wichita State's perfect season with a 78-76 win with the Wildcats handing the Midwest Region's top seed its first loss since last year's Final Four. And in the South Region, tenth-seed Stanford upset number-2 seed Kansas 60-57.
