Coldwater tennis, golf see action Friday; another busy high school sports Saturday on tap

UNDATED - Last night in boys golf, Coldwater traveled to Jackson's Arbor Hills golf course to play in the Parma Western Panther Invitational and came in 7th place out of the 15 teams that participated in the event. Western won the event with a score of 319 while Coldwater shot a team score of 354. Coldwater was led by Nathan Waterbury with an 87, Stephan Boston shot an 88, Cam Ruge had an 89, Scout Case carded a 90 and Keagan Dwyer rounded out the scoring with a 92.

Coldwater's JV boys golf team participated in the Sturgis (Varsity) Invitational and came away with a 15th place finish out of 19 teams. Marshall won the event with a score of 309 while Coldwater had a score of 397. Coldwater was led by Nick Galliers with an 89, Grant Yearling had a 100, Tanner Bowers shot 101, Collin Warner carded a 107, and Collin Outwater shot 114 to round out Coldwater's scoring.

In girls tennis, Coldwater hosted Niles at Heritage Park for the SMAC Crossover match and lost to the Vikings 5-3. Getting wins for the Cardinals were Emma Grife at 2nd singles, Emma Dwyer at 3rd singles, and the 4th doubles team of Allison Eastmead and Emilie Dunny. The Coldwater JV team also lost to Niles 5-3, with wins coming from Emily Hicks at 2nd singles, Next Panyakorn at 3rd singles, and the 3rd doubles team of Madisen Fox and Kayle Riley.

On today's schedule, in baseball, Coldwater travels to Bay City John Glenn for a mini-tournament while Bronson is at the Leslie Blackhawk Invitational. In softball, Bronson plays at the Grand Rapids Northview Invitational. In baseball and softball, Quincy is hosting four-team invitational tournaments while Union City is at the Colon Darmofal Invitational. Quincy is also hosting a girls soccer tournament, while Coldwater is at the Hanover-Horton Invitational. In track, it's the Quincy Invitational, with Bronson and Union City among the teams in the field. In boys golf, Coldwater is at the St. Philip Tiger Invitational at Binder Park. Finally, after a one-year hiatus, the Coldwater Freshman Baseball Invitational will take place at Lowe Field.
