PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) - It seems the state’s utilities are between a rock and a hard place when it comes to tree trimming. The Michigan Public Service Commission chastised Consumers Energy Friday for only spending half of what it requested on tree trimming last year.
On the other side, communities and neighborhoods are often upset by utility tree trimmers who leave “butchered trees” in their wake, or just take out the trees altogether, as happened last year along Angling Road in Portage. The city was compelled to spend thousands of dollars to replace them.
The Public Services Commission says tree trimming prevents outages.
