COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Concerns about a reported suspicious situation early yesterday afternoon at Coldwater’s Lakeland elementary school scrambled law enforcement officers to the building. The incident focused on an upset parent and officials say there were no threats to students or staff. Parents became worried after police scanner traffic briefly included the mention of a possible school lockdown.
A posting on Facebook attributed to Coldwater Schools Assistant Superintendent Dixie Koenemann said as much and also had Koenemann noting that it was great to see that if they were ever in need of police protection, local officers are ready and able to protect students and staff. The statement from the assistant superintendent was reportedly the subject of a robo call that went out to all Lakeland parents.
