DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock is a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, given to the NHL's best coach. This season, Babcock led a young team with several injured stars to continue the Wings Stanley Cup playoff streak for a 23rd straight year. Detroit lost in the first round to the Boston Bruins. Babcock was also a finalist in 2008 after Detroit won the Presidents' Trophy.
The Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild grabbed victories last night in the NHL playoffs. The Canadiens defended home ice with a 4-2 decision over the Bruins to grab a 2-1 series advantage. The Wild blanked the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 at home and now trail 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
