COLDWATER (WTVB) - Now that summer like weather is finally here and people are spending more time outdoors, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says it is important for everyone to take precautions against tick and mosquito bites which can cause infections and illness. During the past five years, the health department has received positive reports of Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis, all of which are spread through ticks and mosquitoes. Rebecca Burns, Environmental Health Director for Health Agency says the good news is that many of these infections can be prevented by following some basic control measures. For more information, you can visit the health department’s website at www.bhsj.org.
