Attorney General pushes to keep convicted killer behind bars

ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - He’s from west Michigan, the last man being held under the state’s now defunct criminal Psychopath Law, and the Attorney General has joined the effort to keep Theodore Glenn Williams off the street and in a mental ward. Williams was convicted of raping and killing two young girls in Allegan county back in the 1960’s and he might have escaped prosecution, but Williams, a painter, accidentally buried his order book with his second victim.

Because he is still classified as a psychopath under the old law, he can win his freedom if he can prove his treatment has worked. He has filed for a hearing to make his case.  Family members of the victims hope to prove he should never be released and now A.G. Bill Schuette has filed an amicus brief supporting their position.
