BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County by DNSUnlocker”> high school sports, there was a county matchup in girls basketball last night with Bronson winning its home opener, beating Union City 66-25. The by DNSUnlocker”> host Lady Vikings had no trouble improving to 2-0 with a 28-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Chargers fell to 0-2 after being held to single digit scoring in every period. Payton Robinson had a game-high 13 points for Bronson while Kelsey Robinson and Adyson Lasky had 10 points apiece. Haley Harty had 6 points in the loss while Rachel Wing had 10 rebounds. Bronson’s next game is Thursday at home against White Pigeon while Union City plays host to Tekonsha tomorrow night.
The Branch County boys basketball season tips off tonight including a game we’ll have on the radio with Coldwater at Battle Creek Lakeview with our live coverage beginning at 7 p.m. Bronson’s schedule starts with a home game against Homer while Union City is on the road against Colon. Tonight in Girls basketball, Coldwater plays its home opener against Battle Creek Lakeview while Quincy is at Centreville.
Also tonight, Coldwater’s first year boys swimming and diving by DNSUnlocker”> program begins competition with a tri-meet at Marshall.
In middle school sports, in boys basketball yesterday, Coldwater swept 3 games from Charlotte with wins for the 8th grade B team on the road and the 7th grade teams at home. The Cardinals took the 8th grade game 32-17 with ten points for Grey Skudlarick. In the 7th grade A victory, Bradey Moore had 18 points and 11 rebounds while Deandre Douglas added 13 points. Coldwater won the B game 25-11 with 10 points for Kirk Kashian and 10 rebounds for Luke Larr.
Bronson’s 8th grade team lost at home last night to Schoolcraft 34-15 with 9 points for Graham Eley.
