SAN DIEGO, CA (WTVB) – Tiger Woods is out of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines near San Diego due to a back injury in yesterday’s first round. Woods withdrew from the event after 11 holes when his back tightened up during a fog delay.
The 14-time major champion missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open last week after carding the worst round of his pro career at 11-over, 82. In his last eight events dating back to last year, Tiger has withdrawn three times and missed the cut in three others.
