BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings finally got in their previously snowed out game against Mendon Thursday night, beating the Hornets 56-48. Daniel McMichael had 17 points, while Sean Kenny finished with 12. The Bronson JV squad won 50-42, with 18 points from Eric Cossairt and 14 from Courtney Salesman.
The Coldwater underclassmen split with Harper Creek last night, with the Lady Cardinals winning on the road and both boys teams losing at home. The JV girls beat Harper Creek 34-16 with 14 points for Isabella Foley. The freshman team beat the Beavers 27-18 with 8 points from Avery Milnes and 7 from Nadia Kiersey.
The Coldwater JV boys fell to Harper Creek 41-29. Austin Butler had 9 points. The Beavers won the freshman game 43-40. Joe Severn lead Coldwater with 11 points, while Brent Smoker and Christian Pine each had 8.
The Union City JV boys fell to Athens 50-41, with 20 points for Grady Kever.
The Coldwater High bowling teams finished their regular season by sweeping Pennfield in their varsity and JV matches. The Cardinal varsity boys were lead by Buddy Bailey with a 232, while Colin Outwater rolled a 225. The varsity girls were lead by Patricia Neely with a 226. Both teams finished at 9-3 on the season.
The JV boys finished at 9-1, as Nick Galliers rolled a 202 yesterday. Stella Beerman had a 152 as the JV girls finished at 5-3.
Coming up tonight, the Coldwater boys and girls will host Harper Creek in varsity basketball. Between the two contests, former standout volleyball and basketball player Miranda Robison will be inducted into the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame. The Coldwater High School gym will also be officially be renamed the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium, in honor of the late coach and athletic director who lead the Cardinals to the 1949 boys basketball state championship. The girls will tip-off at 6 pm, with our pregame show on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 starting at 5:30 pm following the Evening Journal.
Also on tonight’s schedule, the Quincy boys and girls will host Jonesville, Union City’s boys and girls play at Athens, while the Bronson boys host Buchanan and the girls play at Niles-Brandywine.
Tomorrow the MHSAA wrestling individual regionals will be held at sites across the state. 14 wrestlers from Branch County will be competing.
