QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, it was a losing night in Girls basketball for Quincy, Bronson and Union City. In the Big Eight Conference, Quincy slipped to 0-5 and 0-2 in league play after falling at home to Springport 53-19. Allison Parshall had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Also in the Big Eight, Reading was a winner at Union City 52-26. Sophomore Rachel Wing had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. The defeat dropped the Lady Charger’s record to 0-3 in the conference and 2-5 overall.
Bronson lost a non-conference contest at Prairie Heights, Indiana 46-43. The host Panthers rallied for the victory by winning the fourth quarter 13-6. Skyler Sobeski had a game-high 17 points in the defeat while Kinslea Blouin added 16 points. After starting the season 6-0, Bronson drops to 6-2.
Last night in Boys basketball, Tekonsha lost at home to Athens 55-48. Chyene Wiescholek had 15 points and 9 rebounds while Everett Lewis-Lanphar also had 15 points. Connor Jenkins added 11 points for the Indians, who slip to 2-4.
Tonight in high school sports, in wrestling, it’s Senior Night for Coldwater as the Cardinals host Harper Creek. Also, Quincy is at Stockbridge and Bronson hosts Colon. And in gymnastics, it’s Coldwater at Saline.

The nomination process for the 2015 induction class of the Coldwater High School Athletic Hall of Fame is open now until January 23rd. If you know of anyone who may meet the criteria for induction, now is the time to have them nominated for the induction ceremony which is set for Friday, February 20th, between the girls and boys basketball games against Harper Creek. The criteria for induction include: Graduation in 2009 or prior; Extensive honors, such as All-State, All-Conference, or All-Region; Major performer on a championship team; and post-high school competition at the collegiate or professional level. Another category for the nominees to be inducted includes people who have been diligent supporters of CHS Athletic Programs through monetary donations, long time service or volunteerism, or any other special gift to CHS.
