BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports last night, in a county matchup in Girls basketball, Bronson was a winner at home over Quincy 50-20. Bronson was ahead 14-2 at the end of the first quarter and led by 14 at the half at 28-14. Quincy had no answer after the break, scoring only 6 points the rest of the way. Kinslea Blouin and Skyler Sobeski had 11 points apiece in the victory while Payton Hines had 6 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for the Orioles. The non-conference win boosted Bronson’s record to 8-2 while Quincy fell to 1-9.
Also in Girls hoops, Union City lost 46-32 at Centreville despite a double-double from Rachel Wing, who had 10 points and 10 rebounds. The non-conference defeat dropped their record to 2-9. And Tekonsha lost at home to Pittsford 71-8.
Last night in Boys basketball, Bronson lost at Mendon 49-47. The Viking’s rally came up short after they trailed 25-17 at the half. Noah Roberts had 13 points and Sean Kenny 10 in a makeup game from the contest that was postponed by the frigid weather back on January 8th. The defeat dropped Bronson’s record to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in BCS Conference play.
Tonight in high school sports, in boys and girls basketball, it’s Coldwater vs. Jackson Lumen Christi with the boys action in Coldwater and the girls games at Lumen Christi. We’ll have the boys contest on the radio with the broadcast beginning tonight at 6:45 pm and you can also listen on-line at wtvbam.com. Also, in boys play only, Quincy hosts Springport and Union City hosts Reading. And this afternoon in bowling, Coldwater has a match at Marshall.

In middle school sports yesterday, in Girls basketball, the Union City 8th grade team fell at Athens 26-24 with 7 points for Lilly Beckmeyer. The Coldwater girls begin their season today against Harper Creek with the 8th grade action at Legg Middle School with the 7th grade game at Harper Creek.
