COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, there was wrestling last night and Coldwater scored two wins in a quad meet at Marshall. The Cardinals defeated Charlotte 33-29 and Jackson Northwest 54-5. Going 2-0 were Hamza Muflihi, Tyler Massey, Josh Powers, Nooh Aljabaly, and Zach Chehowski. The victories leave Coldwater tied for first place in the Interstate Eight with a 5-1 conference mark. The Cardinals next action is coming up Saturday at the Lakeshore Invitational.
Also Wednesday night, Bronson picked up two wins at Niles-Brandywine. The Vikings beat the host Bobcats 44-33 and New Buffalo 75-6. Going 2-0 on the night were Jacob Butters, Wesley Disbro, Gavin Alger, David Erwin, Chase Gibson, Brett Burtrum, and Nathan Caudill. Bronson improved its record on the season to 14-0 and on Saturday, they host their annual Clark Walker Invitational.
In a Big 8 quad last night at Quincy, the host Orioles dropped a pair of matches, losing 59-21 to Union City and 61-12 to Jonesville. Joel Roush had two pins for the Orioles while Kaleb Miller earned decision victory against Union City and Jared Brown had a pin against Jonesville. Quincy’s record is 5-16 and 1-3 in the Big Eight.
Tonight in high school sports, in varsity Boys basketball, it’s Union City at Jonesville. In reserve hoops, the schedule includes Coldwater Boys freshman and junior varsity action at home against Charlotte beginning with the freshman game at 5:30 pm.
