EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – A great softball season for Bronson nearly ended with a victory but the Lady Vikings lost Saturday’s MHSAA Division 3 Final 2-0 to Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central at Michigan State University. The action was highlighted by a pitcher’s duel between Catholic Central sophomore Meghan Beaubien and Bronson senior Skyler Sobeski.
Beaubien took a perfect game into the top of the 7th inning before Hannah Hoover and Kinslea Blouin broke it up with a pair of singles. Beaubien also connected on a 2-run homer in the first inning off Sobeski that provided all the offense needed for the win and Central’s first softball state title with a final record of 37-5.
In the hard-luck loss for the Vikings, Sobeski gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Our McDonald’s Player of the Game, Kinslea Blouin, played excellent defense at shortstop in addition to getting one of the two Viking hits. Bronson wraps up its campaign with a record of 37-8.
The spring high school sports season in Michigan has now ended with a two month break before the first official practices for the fall 2015 schedule beginning with football on August 10th and then on August 12th volleyball, boys soccer, cross country, girls golf, boys tennis, and girls swimming.
