QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer Wednesday, Coldwater retained the traveling trophy in their annual Battle of the Birds with a 4-1 win Wednesday at Quincy. Malorie Rzepka had two goals and two assists as the Cardinals outshot the Orioles 29-9. Madison Marsh had one goal and two assists and Samantha Rodesiler had the final goal for Coldwater.
Nadia Kiersey had eight saves in goal as Coldwater improved to 1-0-2 on the season. Payton Hines scored for Quincy on an assist by Hannah Kaser. The Cardinals will play in varsity only action at Jonesville Friday with a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
Quincy is now 1-1 on the season and plays at Onsted on Thursday.
In high school baseball, the Bronson Vikings scored five runs in the bottom of the first and went on to defeat the Prairie Heights Panthers 6-4 on Wednesday. Brendan Bell had two of the five hits for the Vikings while Mykal Kline and Bryce Withington both had two RBI’s.
Winning pitcher Daniel McMichael struck out five in four innings of work. Noah Roberts pitched the last three innings to earn the save. The Vikings improved to 2-1 with the victory.

Jordyn Fox scored the only point for Bronson at number two singles with a three set victory.

Onsted 88, Quincy 56, Manchester 31
Bryce Ruhl won the high jump by clearing five-feet-six-inches, the long long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 4 ½ inches and the 200 with a time of 23.88. Nathan Nohr won the 1600 with a time of 4:53.31 and the 3200 in a time of 11:09.16.

Quincy 63 ½, Manchester 56, Onsted 54 ½
Quincy won the 1600 and 3200 relays. Katie Spaulding won the 100 hurdles in 18.01 and the 300 hurdles in a time of 54.42 for the Orioles. Harmony Harpster won the pole vault by clearing seven feet and the 800 in a time of 2:47.16. Kayla Hayes won the shot put with a distance of 32 feet, 8 ¾ inches.

Coldwater’s JV golf team traveled to the Island Hills Golf Course on Wednesday to participate in a Jamboree hosted by Sturgis. Coldwater took 2nd place firing a score of 202. Battle Creek Lakeview won the event with a 192. Harper Creek came in just behind Coldwater with a 203 and Sturgis rounded out the scoring with a 259. Leading the way for Coldwater was Jacob Fair with a 46 followed by Kyle Herman with a 50, Joe Hicks and Tanner Bowers each had 53’s, Brendan Hanna carded a 62 and Dillon Gagnon rounded out the scoring with a 73.
