CONSTANTINE, MI (WTVB) – The Constantine Village Council has settled the issue of whether it would ban assault rifles once and for all.
President Patricia Weiss failed to get a second on her proposal that they take a stand on gun violence.
The action came despite comments during the meeting from Gene Kopf, the father of Shooting spree victim Abigail Kopf of Battle Creek, who feels the issue doesn’t get discussed enough.
Several citizens once again stood up to oppose the ban, defending their right to bear arms.
It was all moot anyway because state law doesn’t allow local jurisdictions to set their own gun regulations.
Weis says she has no plans to bring the subject up again.
