COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners decided during their work session on Thursday to move forward a proposed four year extension of a medical transportation agreement with Life Care Ambulance.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the four year contract extension has been done before. No funding is attached to the extension.
Meanwhile, a proposed intercom system between the Branch County Courthouse holding cell and the county jail has been tabled once again while the jail evaluation group committee studies it further.
Jail Administrator Fred Blankenship said two weeks ago they have had some issues in the holding cell such as seizures and a possible overdose when an officer was not available. He said the intercom would allow those in the holding cell to communicate with someone outside in case they needed assistance.
Commission Chair Don Vrablic told Blankenship he had concerns about how it would be paid for. He was also concerned about letting inmates in the holding cell have access to an intercom button.
