COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of two suspects in the theft of a large amount of items from the Coldwater Gander Mountain store was ordered to pay over $14,000 in restitution during her sentencing hearing on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
22-year-old Kayla Wagoner was also placed on probation for two years by Judge Bill O’Grady and sentenced to 90 days in jail. Wagoner was given credit for 43 days already served.
Court officials say she entered a guilty plea to first degree attempted retail fraud as part of a plea agreement. Charges of Retail Fraud, Organized Retail Crime and Conspiracy to Commit Organized Retail Crime were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty plea.
28-year-old co-defendant Paul William Goetz-Hoke was ordered to serve between 18 months and five years in June after he entered guilty pleas to first degree retail fraud and organized retail crime.
According to Branch County court documents, the two suspects took items from the store in January for possible reselling either through the mail or by electronic media.
