LOS ANGELES, CA (WTVB) – The National League Championship Series is all tied at two games apiece. The Chicago Cubs used a pair of big innings to dominate the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 in Game Four at Chavez Ravine.
Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI for Chicago, which scored four times in the fourth, one in the fifth and five more in the sixth. Addison Russell hit a two-run homer for the Cubs, who had been shut out the last two games.
Mike Montgomery worked two innings out of the pen to pick up the win. Julio Urias gave up four runs in three-and-two-thirds frames to take the loss for Los Angeles.
The Dodgers host Game Five on Thursday. Jon Lester is scheduled to be on the mound for Chicago. The Dodgers are slated to go with Kenta Maeda. Neither pitcher took a decision in Game One, which was won by the Cubs. The series heads back to Chicago on Saturday.
The Cleveland Indians are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1997. Rookie Ryan Merritt and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the Indians blanked the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 in Game Five of the American League Championship Series in Toronto. Cleveland wins the best-of-seven set 4-1.
Carlos Santana and Coco Crisp both hit solo home runs for the Tribe, which will be seeking its first World Series championship since 1948. The Indians will play either the Cubs or Dodgers in the Fall Classic. Bryan Shaw picked up the win in relief.
