CHARLOTTE, MI (WTVB) – The best season in Coldwater boys soccer history came to an end Thursday night, as the 7th ranked Cardinals fell to 12th ranked Marshall 2-1 in double overtime in the District semi final at Charlotte.
After a scoreless 80 minutes of regulation, Coldwater scored one minute into the first overtime on a penalty kick from Mana Ahmed, his 31st goal of the season. Marshall scored less than 2 minutes later, also on a penalty kick. The Redhawks scored the winning goal with 3:21 to play in the 2nd overtime to advance to the District Final Saturday.
Balal Nasser made 6 saves in goal, as Coldwater’s season ended at 18-3-1. The Cardinals broke their previous record of 16 wins, as well as breaking the record of fewest goals allowed with 13.

Quincy pulled out 2-0 wins against Burr Oak (25-9 & 25-20) and Addison (25-21 & 25-17) Thursday night.

—MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL—
The Coldwater 8th grade A team volleyball team finished up their season at Parma Western with a 2-0 loss (18-25 23-25) on Thursday night. Leading the team on the serving line was Jenna Juliean 6 points. Amber Sunderland, Madison Beckhusen and Victoria Gonzalez each with 4 points. AnnaKate Dwyer lead the team in kills with 5, Abby Herman 4 kills and Kaia Donay 3 kills. Alyssa Bach had a great game in back row leading the team in digs with 4, Laynee Paarlberg 3 digs and Meg Smith 2 digs. Veronica Gonzalez and Paarlberg each with 4 assists, Beckhusen 3 assists and Mia Rzepka 2 assists.
The Coldwater 8th grade B volleyball team defeated Parma Western 2-1 (22-25, 25-15, and 15-5) Jadyn Richmond was the leading server with 9 points. Other strong servers were Lissbet Ramos with 8 points, Lacy Janusz with 7 points, and Joselyn Salto with 6 points. Carly Gebbink, Molly Lewis and Julieanah Wild all played good defense, each receiving 1 dig a piece.
The Coldwater 7th grade A volleyball team improved to 18-1-1 as they defeated Parma Western 2-0 ( 25-22 25-14)

The 7th grade B volleyball team lost to Parma Western 2-1 (20-25, 25-17, 8-15) as they ended the season with a record of 7-9-3. Leading servers were Camilla Boston (8 points), McKenzie Brezovacki (5 points), Allie Welch (4 points).
