DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler is hoping to be able to return to the lineup tonight against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park.
Kinsler has been sidelined as part of the concussion protocol since he was hit in the helmet by a pitch in Sunday’s game at Cleveland. If he does not have any concussion symptoms, he should be cleared to play against the Royals.
Detroit designated hitter Victor Martinez, who was hit in the knee by a pitch on Sunday, smacked a three-run, pinch-hit homer in the ninth inning of yesterday’s first game against the Twins. He finished 1-for-3 in the nightcap.
