HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys tennis team clinched a share of the regular season I8 conference championship Monday night with an 8-0 victory over Hastings. Coldwater won all the singles matches 6-0, 6-0 and the first three doubles matches 6-0, 6-0. Hastings did not have a fourth doubles team.
Shane OGrady, Austin Butler and Porter Skidmore each completed the conference regular season undefeated. The Cardinals finished the conference regular season with six wins and one tie against Parma Western.
The Interstate 8 Conference tournament will be held Friday in Battle Creek. The Cardinals will also be hosting Gull Lake Wednesday for Senior Night.
—BOYS SOCCER—Another shutout and another win for the Coldwater boys varsity soccer team, as they beat Battle Creek Lakeview Monday night 4-0 in non-conference action.
Mana Ahmed had 3 goals for the Cardinals, including the first just 53 seconds into the game as Coldwater took a 3-0 halftime lead. Jonathon Brownell added the final goal 5 minutes into the second half, assisted by Anas Asker. Shuaib Aljabaly had an assist in the first half.
Balal Nasser made 3 saves in goal for his 10th shutout of the season, setting a new school record. It was the 7th straight shutout for the Cardinals, who haven’t given up a goal since August 30.
Coldwater, ranked #8 again this week in the Michigan Soccer Coaches Association Division 2 Poll, is now 12-1-1 on the season. They will continue Interstate 8 Conference action with a varsity only game at Jackson Lumen Christi Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Coldwater JV team fell to Battle Creek Lakeview 3-0 Monday for only their 2nd loss of the season.

Quincy moved up one spot in this weeks Michigan Associated Press High School Football poll. The 5-0 Orioles are ranked 8th in Division 6 following their 38-30 over arch rival Reading last Friday. If the Orioles beat Homer on Friday night, they will clinch a spot in the post season.
Meanwhile, the 4-1 Coldwater Cardinals are ranked 11th in Division 3. Coldwater plays at Jackson Lumen Christi on Friday night.
Harper Creek is ranked sixth in Division 3 while Climax-Scots was third in Division 8.Battle Creek St. Philip is ranked fifth in eight man football.
