QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Officials for the Village of Quincy and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced on Wednesday that the village has been awarded a $1 million infrastructure grant.
Village Manager Eric Zuzga said they will use the funds to remove water mains and improve streets on Grove, East Jefferson, Fulton and Colfax near the Quincy schools. They also plan to replace a lift station on the south side.
He said larger water mains will replace four inch water mains that are 122 years old.
Utility Manager Jason Laney said the four inch water mains have probably been reduced to two inches or less.
Emily Petz from the MEDC said Quincy was one of 40 applicants that were seeking the $8 million that were available.
The grant was awarded on Tuesday. The local match is 10 percent and the money has to be spent by December of 2017.
