COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -0 Clemens Food Group and Grey Construction of Lexington, Kentucky recently celebrated one million safe man hours in the construction of the new Clemens pork processing facility north of Coldwater.
Since work began on the 685,000 square foot facility, there have been no accidents that have led to down time.
It’s been difficult work. Crews have had to work as high as 95 feet off the ground. There has also been the installation of food processing equipment as well as electrical engineering.
Officials say the project remains on schedule for a September 5, 2017 opening after it was first announced in late 2014.
The plant between Jonesville and Newton Roads will create 830 jobs.
