COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The last of the four young suspects who were charged in connection with numerous break-ins a week last December around Coldwater Lake was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
18-year-old Destinee Denise Lillie of Fulton, Michigan was placed on probation for two years under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act by Judge Bill O’Grady and was given a suspended sentence of seven months but she must comply with a lengthy list of stipulations during her probation in order to stay out of the Branch County Jail.
Lillie will have to pursue her G.E.D. since she is a ninth grade dropout, perform 100 hours of community service, be monitored electronically, obey a curfew, have no contact with the three co-defendants in the case and pay her share of restitution.
She entered guilty pleas to five counts of third degree home invasion as part of a plea agreement. All other charges against Lillie were dropped by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty pleas.
Lillie had no previous criminal record. She apologized to the victims and admitted during an emotional sentencing hearing that she got with the wrong crowd. Lillie was given credit for 12 days already served in jail.
