COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater man who was arrested along with his wife after police say they found drugs in their east side motel room November 15, 2017 has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court after the defendant waived his preliminary exam.
39-year-old James Royer is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference December 11, 2017.
He and his 33-year-old wife Heather were convicted of maintaining a drug house at their South Polk Street residence last year.
James Royer served six months in jail and was placed on probation for 18 months. His wife was also placed on the same probation, although her jail term was suspended. Police said they had been staying at the motel after being evicted from a Coldwater apartment.
The arrests at the Coldwater Inn and Suites, which is the former Super 8 Motel, came after Coldwater Police got numerous tips.
The couple’s two children were also discovered during the bust and were turned over to the custody of their grandfather.
Police said they seized methamphetamine and marijuana from the room along with digital scales and packaging materials.
