COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Discussion continues on what downtown Coldwater can and should look like in the future, with consultant Bob Harris presenting another update on reinvestment in downtown during this weeks Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board meeting.
Harris presented a four year plan on how nine “gateways” can be built in the future. One suggestion was growing the multibillion dollar food supply chain, which could lead to ten new businesses in Coldwater.
He also said the Fairfield Plaza can be transitioned into a lifecycle destination plaza and that building readiness in downtown Coldwater is not as bad as he first thought.
Harris added three new restaurants will probably open in downtown Coldwater during 2018 including one that will focus on sea food. A restaurateur from Texas is looking to locate at 22 West Chicago next to the Coldwater Executive Suites. A small microbrewery could be included and there have been discussions about putting tables up on the roof.
A timeline calls for a DDA Board Strategic Planning session in January on Harris’ suggestions with a plan being implemented in April.
Harris is a retired Chief Executive Officer for the Alliance Foods Group.
