BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson High School qualified four for the MHSAA Finals at the D4 Individual Wrestling Regionals that they hosted on Saturday.
Bronson’s David Erwin won the 171 pound championship. Gavin Alger was 4th at 160 pounds. Chase Gibson was 3rd at 189 pounds. Ben Modert was 2nd at 103 pounds.
Coldwater’s Sam DeMeester qualified for the MHSAA Division 2 Individual Wrestling Finals Saturday as he finished second at 171 pounds in the Eaton Rapids regionals.
All five Branch County wrestlers will be competing at the MHSAA Individual Wrestling Finals starting on March 2nd at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Meanwhile, Bronson is seeded fourth in the MHSAA Division Four Team Wrestling State Quarterfinals this Friday at Central Michigan University. The 30-8 Vikings will face fifth seeded Springport at 12 noon Friday at McGuirk Arena. The Spartans are 17-3.
The winner will face either #1 seed Hudson (16-9) or eighth-seeded Munising (22-3) in the state semi-finals at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The Division Four state finals will be at 3:30 p.m.
