COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In boys basketball, everybody that went into the game for Coldwater scored at least 2 points, as the Cardinals routed the visiting Jackson Northwest Mounties 70-40. After battling to a 9-9 stalemate in the first quarter, Coldwater outscored Northwest 43-15 in the second and third quarters en route to the win. Colin Warner led all scorers with 22 points, while our McDonald’s Player of the Game, Gage McGuire, added 18. Bench players combined for 19 points, led by 6 apiece from Ethan Wiley and Cameron Barnes. The Cardinals improved to 5-1 overall, 2-1 in the Interstate 8. They are tied with Marshall and Harper Creek for second in the league, a game behind Parma Western.

MENDON, MI – Mendon outscored Bronson in the second half 32-21 to pick up a 46-36 win against the visiting Vikings. Logan Kenny led Bronson with 7 points, while Thadd Herman had 6 points and 7 rebounds. The Vikings fall to 1-4 overall, 1-3 in the BCS Blue.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
COLDWATER, MI – Jackson Northwest jumped out to an 18-4 lead early and never looked back as they cruised to a 58-47 win at Coldwater. The Cardinals’ defense struggled against an aggressive Mountie offense; they also shot themselves in the foot with a season-high 28 turnovers. One bright spot was the performance of our McDonald’s Player of the Game, Carlee Crabtree, who had a team high 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Tyler Scheid had 7 points on 7-of-9 free shooting and a team-high 8 boards. Coldwater drops to 5-2 overall, 1-2 in the Interstate 8.

QUINCY, MI – Springport outscored Quincy in the 2nd quarter 22-2 en route to a 59-27 win on the Orioles’ home court. Hannah Economou had 9 points and 8 rebounds, while Zoe Aseltine had 7 points as Quincy drops to 1-5 overall, 0-3 in the Big 8.
CONCORD, MI – Union City dropped their sixth straight game, a 62-26 setback at Concord. Allison Adams had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Autumn Carpenter had 6 points and 6 boards as the Chargers fall to 3-5 overall, 0-3 in the Big 8.
