QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office now has the findings of a Sheriff’s Department investigation into the Quincy School District’s handling of sexual misconduct allegations against a former teacher.
The Sheriff’s Department report was turned in Monday, which was the same day Superintendent Craig Artist wrote a letter of resignation to the Quincy Board of Education board announcing his plans to retire.
The board is expected to formally accept the resignation this Monday night.
Artist, along with Quincy High School Principal David Spalding, was placed on paid administrative leave in May by the school board.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler confirms Artist, Spalding and Human Resources Director Cheryl Globke were the subjects of the investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
Many in the Quincy community have questioned how the administrators handled sexual allegations against Jason Ferrell, who is facing criminal sexual conduct charges for alleged incidents with a former student in Branch and Calhoun Counties.
