COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Healing Hill of Hope Healing Field event will be happening this morning in Coldwater. It’s a project of the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club as children from Branch County who have suffered from abuse and or neglect will be honored.
The Hill of Hope will be at the Naomi Davis Shelter House as 202 American Flags and Child Abuse Flags will stand 8 feet tall in perfect formation. The ceremony starts at 11 a.m. today at the Shelter House on North Michigan Avenue and flags will remain in place through the end of July.
Nationally, child abuse is an epidemic and seems to be unchecked and the statistics for Branch County reflect what is going on across the U.S.
The county has twice the State average of cases.
The Healing Hill project, along with the Early Bird Exchange Club’s 30th annual Independence Day 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, will support local child abuse prevention programs. The keynote speaker for today’s Healing Hill ceremony will be Branch County District Court Magistrate/Judge David Coyle.
