COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners is looking to replace the current election equipment for the county. Commissioners voted during their work session Thursday to bring forward to next week’s meeting a resolution to apply for a grant which would partially fund a new voting system.
Branch County Clerk Terry Kubasiak says this is part of the $40 million the state is making available for new election equipment throughout Michigan. She said Branch County’s reimbursement share would come to about $248,000.
Kubasiak told commissioners that whatever has to be paid locally is already in her budget.
The new voting system would include precinct tabulators, accessible voting devices for use by those with disabilities and related Election Management System software.
