COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the suspects arrested in connection with the stealing of money from vending machines at the Welcome Center on I-69 entered guilty pleas to two counts Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
37-year-old Katherine Anne Johnson of Battle Creek entered guilty pleas to charges of Malicious Destruction of Property and Breaking and Entering of a Coin Operated Machine.
In exchange, an habitual offender sentencing enhancement would be dropped and Johnson would not have to testify against a co-defendant in the case.
Circuit Judge Bill O’Grady scheduled a sentencing hearing for May 8, 2017.
Michigan State Police say extensive damaged was done to the machines after they were pried open.
