ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Lions will not have defensive tackle Haloti Ngata for the rest of the season. The 12-year veteran suffered a season-ending biceps injury during Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
The five-time Pro Bowler had two sacks in five games for Detroit. Ngata mulled retirement this offseason before deciding to return for a third season with the Lions.
In a corresponding move, the team signed defensive tackle Caraun Reid and defensive end Datone Jones.
The Lions return to the practice field today as they get ready to visit the Saints in New Orleans on Sunday. Defensive end Ziggy Ansah and guard T.J. Lang did not practice while wide receiver Kenny Golladay, safety Glover Quinn and running back Dwayne Washington were limited with injuries.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is dealing with an ankle issue, but was a full participant in practice.
