BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – It was a tough day on Friday for the Coldwater Girls Golf team in the opening round of the MHSAA Division Two State Finals at the Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek. Coldwater finds itself in 17th place after the first round after they had a team score of 394 on Friday. Hunter Jenkot led Coldwater with a 91 followed by Jayla Goodwin with a 98, Claire Sheppard shot a 99, Micki Slack had a 106, and Kelly Warner rounded out Coldwater’s scoring with a 112. The second round will be held on Saturday.

All of the Branch County teams were off on Friday night following their games on Thursday. Coldwater and Union City are assured of playing next week in the opening round of the state tournament while Quincy will have to wait until the Sunday night MHSAA Selection Show to get official word on whether or not their 5-4 record was good enough to get into the post season.
