COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A restaurant that had been a staple on the east side of Coldwater for almost five decades has shut its doors.
You can add the Big Boy at 552 West Chicago to the ever growing list of empty buildings in Coldwater as the restaurant closed for good Monday.
The phone went unanswered when a call was attempted during the Monday dinner hour.
A sign taped to the front door said “We appreciate your business but this location will be closed as of 4/2/2018. Please visit our Battle Creek location. Thank you.”
There was only word on the business marquee outside. It said “Closed”.
There were three vehicles in the parking lot and supplies were seen stacked on the tables inside late Monday afternoon.
While the Big Boy is one of the older restaurants in Coldwater, it has gotten some rather unflattering on line reviews lately. It only got a 2.5 rating out of 47 reviews at www.tripadvisor.com. It also got a 2.9 rating out of nearly 200 reviews on Google and only a 1.5 rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp
