ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The National Weather Service will be looking into a possible EF-0 tornado which struck south of Angola Saturday night.
Steuben County Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Brown told WANE-TV in Fort Wayne that about 15 structures sustained minor to moderate damage.
The storm which struck at about 6:45 p.m. featured heavy rain and strong winds.
A National Weather Service observer reported the roof was blown off a school bus garage and trees were damaged south of Angola.
If the tornado is confirmed, it would be the first in Steuben County since a twister destroyed a hanger at the Tri-State Steuben County Airport west of Angola in May of 1997.
The storm was part of a soggy Saturday around the area. Many locations reported one to two inches of rain. There were some reports of nearly four inches of rain which led to flood warnings being issued in Branch County on Saturday night.
