COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two Coldwater High School honor students will get the opportunity later this month to advance their education in the field of medicine.
William Reehl, who is entering the 12th grade at Coldwater High School and David Roderick, Jr, who is entering the 11th grade at CHS have both been chosen from thousands of nominees across the country to be a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, Massachusetts June 25-27, 2018.
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the country who aspire to be physicians or medical scientists, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan, and resources to help them reach their goal.
Both students were nominated to participate in the event based on their academic achievement, leadership potential, and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.
During the three-day Congress, William and David will join students from across the country and hear Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science Winners talk about leading medical research. They will be given advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans on what to expect in medical school while also learning about cutting-edge advances and the future in medicine and medical technology.
Reehl’s plan is to become a biomedical engineer and a Doctor. His dream is to attain his engineering degree and then his Medical Degree, to work in the medical profession to design systems and products, such as artificial internal organs and artificial devices that replace body parts to allow the medical field to continue to grow and help all people have a better, longer life.
Roderick’s career goal is to become an Ophthalmologist to help people with vision problems like his mother. David really wants to attend this conference, including doing some post-conference assignments to earn college credit for attending.
