COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – For the 17th straight year, the girls softball team at Coldwater High School has been named Academic All State by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association. Five seniors also received individual Academic All State honors, including Jamie Wellet, Drue Mullin, Carly Duke, Seairah Bradley and Darlene Horn.
Horn, Tyler Scheid and Wellet made the Interstate 8 All Conference team. Honorable mentions were earned by Samantha Rodesiler, Cheyenne Akers and Mia Rzepka.
All District Team members were Wellet, Rzepka, Horn and Scheid. Honorable Mention were Mullin and Izzy Foley.
Horn and Wellet were named to the All Region team.
The team voted Horn as the Most Valuable Player while Mullin and Rzepka were given the Golden Glove Awards. Wellet received the Outstanding Outfielder award, Scheid was named the Hitting Queen, Avery Milnes was named the Most Improved Player, Akers was given the Team Player Award, Ellory Farmer won the Spirit Award, and Bradley won the Coaches Award.
The Cardinals, who held their awards banquet Wednesday, went 23-12 this season, which included a 15-game winning streak that was snapped in the district finals by Three Rivers.
