COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An Ovid Township woman accused in a bizarre series of events last month which ended with her allegedly driving her car into the Coldwater Walmart store was arraigned Thursday in Branch County District Court. 37-year old Sarah Siler surrendered Thursday morning at the Branch County Jail.
Siler was admitted to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital following the May 19th crash at the Walmart store. Ten days later she was booked at the jail on a charge of burglary-forced entry and released on $25,000 bond.
Following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation, it was alleged that Siler on the morning of May 19, 2018 broke into Rick’s Party Store just south of Coldwater where several items were taken. A few minutes later, Coldwater City Police reported that Siler’s vehicle crashed through the east entrance of the Walmart store and came to a stop near the pharmacy. A customer suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.
Siler yesterday was charged with breaking and entering a building with intent, felonious assault with a dangerous weapon and terrorism. There was a fourth charge, ironically, of illegal parking related to her car ending up inside Walmart.
Siler is free on a $25,000 bond with her next District court date for a probable cause hearing set for August 2, 2018.
