BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police over the weekend arrested a Bronson Township man who is facing charges of domestic violence felony assault and felony resisting arrest. 27-year old Joshua Homewood was arraigned yesterday in Branch County District Court and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Homewood was booked into the Branch County Jail early Sunday morning on a trio of preliminary charges, including animal cruelty. According to the intake form filled out by the arresting officer, a witness told the trooper that the suspect had choked a puppy. Branch County Central Dispatch received a call from a woman at Homewood’s residence on Orland Road at 1:13 a.m. Sunday, asking for help regarding a domestic situation.
Homewood was formally charged yesterday with domestic violence, third offense; police officer assaulting/resisting/obstructing; and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Homewood was also ordered to have no contact with the woman who is the alleged victim of the reported assault.
The suspect is due back in District Court for a probable cause hearing March 13, 2018. There was no news release on the incident issued by Michigan State Police.
