BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Fire Department has been awarded a grant from the Branch County Community Foundation from the Forever Fund to purchase three automatic external defibrillators.
They are used in the event of sudden cardiac arrest to read the patient’s heart rhythm.
Medically licensed Bronson Fire Department personnel who live in the outlying Bronson fire district will carry the defibrillators in their personal vehicles and respond to the scene of sudden cardiac arrests.
Purchasing the three units was totally funded by the Branch County Community Foundation at a cost of just over $4,300.
The BFD will be responsible for purchasing replacement batteries and electrode pads as needed.
