QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Downtown Quincy will be getting a new look, thanks to a special grant program.
The Village of Quincy this week announced a grant from the Branch County Community Foundation that will be used for the North East Block redevelopment. The grant will be used for the initial phase of Market 1858, which will include the acquisition of buildings and a marketing campaign for available business opportunities.
The redevelopment project will consist of three phases consisting of the current courtyard, the alley on North Main Street, and the North East block of downtown Quincy.
Market 1858 will replace the current courtyard area. Included in the remodel will be the addition of seven small sheds. Six of the sheds will provide small seasonal business opportunities with the other being a restroom facility.
Included in the remodel will be community green space, public art installations, seating, an enclosed dumpster corral, and signage.
The funding from the Branch County Community Foundation is part of its Community Good Grant Cycle. Funding is also being made available from the Forever Fund and the Dan and Judy Dobson Fund.
