UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Police Department is looking for a suspect who led them on a high speed chase Wednesday night.
Police say Officer Travis Ferry tried to stop a vehicle at Broadway and M-60 at about 8:35 p.m. for a traffic violation when the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle fled north into Calhoun County on Eight Mile Rd to O Drive South. It went off the road twice into open fields where it finally crashed into trees off of O Drive South near 7 1/2 Mile Road and the driver fled on foot.
Despite help from a Calhoun County Sheriffs Department K9 Unit, a search for the driver was unsuccessful. Police say they found narcotics equipment in the vehicle and the incident is still under investigation.
The Union City Police were assisted by the Michigan State Police, the Calhoun County Sheriffs Department, and the Huron Potawatomi Tribal Police.
