GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – If you have pets, you have to be careful with them when the temperatures get this cold. Some breeds are built for this weather but most are not and an indoor dog is not going to last long outdoors, and neither will cats.
Sara Ybema from the Humane Society of West Michigan says keep them indoors as much as you can. She says most house cats just aren’t acclimated for weather this severe, even if they are furballs. Even dogs like huskies have to have adequate food supplies, clear water and shelter in weather this cold.
